The Cipunet® broadband measurement tool performs broadband measurements. The Cipunet® narrowband measurement tool performs Narrowband measurements. These toolkit are being continuously developed and improved.

Austria Linz CCC 5 segments, MVM NBM Test was very successful. A general SNR of more than 40 dB could be achieved via 3 km. The influence of the tramways was visible, a very busty noise.
Austria Klagenfurt KELAG CCC between two primary substations over a mixed cable and a distance of 4 km, MVM, NBM The communication resisted the robust version modem. The modem was working in the transparent mode during heavy thunderstorms, during the complete test period lasting two weeks without any problems.
Austria OMV IIC coupling over 10 km new single core MV cable The communication including the application worked perfect. One core two core coupling showed less than 3 dB attenuation over the whole distance.
Austria OMV CCC over LV cables between pump stations of oil field in lower Austria. LVM, NBM Communication is possible but system wasn’t realized due to a OMV budget change.

As well IIC as CCC are suitable for a reliable communication even with the presence of a very high noise level in the primary substation

England Amersham CCC with 3 nF capacitors over a 6 km medium voltage cable. MVM, NBM The used modem was a robust type of modem. The system worked with RP 570 as application protocol without any problem

Fiji Nandi 1 - 6 Site survey including communications tests for narrowband and broadband PLC over low and medium voltage lines. The survey showed up that the MV grid is suited for PLC applications, but that the LV outdoor installation needs special care due to high attenuation
Finland Vaasa IIC over a pure cable based medium voltage network, MVM, NBM The measurement was successful, but a strong TTE appeared up that made the communication to cable end points impossible.
Germany Leichlingen RWE CCC differential coupling over overhead lines and IIC over grounded cables. MVM, NBM CCC over the overhead line segment wasn’t a problem at all. IIC over grounded cables was proved impossible, because of the used grounded cables and the used cable ends.
Germany Badenwerk Herboltsheim IIC over a 3.5 km mixed MV cable The communication worked with a robust type modem without any problem. the maximum SNR in the communication band was 22 dB and the availability was 92 %.

Hong Kong Hong Kong Electric CCC over low voltage lines in high rising buildings and pilot cables. LVM, NBM The noise level combined with a very high attenuation made the communication with the DLM 100 over the low voltage links even over a few meters impossible. The communication over the pilot cables was up to 8 km without any problem. The FTL 100 solved the problem

Norway Flekkefjord CCC over overhead lines The line showed a very strong deep pass characteristic. PLC is possible but only with frequencies under 30 kHz and very high output levels.
Norway Trondheim IIC over a complete ring with 8 substations. NBM, MVM IIC was possible and allowed a very reliable communication except dedicating stations not in the ring, were we noted a very strong TTE.

Sweden Stockholm IIC over several links within the Stockholm area, MVM, LVM The measurements were very successful, but a strong TTE showed up

Switzerland Geneva IIC and CCC over 2 links, the longest link was over 3.4 km with 7 intermediate substations. NBM, MVM, LVM As well IIC as CCC are suitable for a reliable communication. CCC showed better results and seem to be better suited

Switzerland Rheinfelden IIC over 4 links MVM, NMB IIC seem to be reliable even over the old steel armoured cables. A problem is the very high noise level within the primary substation for the two-way communication. Some lines also showed a very strong TTE.
Switzerland Lugano 1 IIC and CCC over several overhead and cable segments. NBM, LVM, MVM IIC over cables showed up no problem to 3 km . Longer distances couldn’t be used to set up a communication.
Switzerland Lugano 2 Communication over 2 different 3 km mixed line segments with a lot of attached stub lines. CCC, MVM, NBM Due to the high attenuation and the dominant low pass characteristic of the 2 transmission lines, only a communication in lower frequency band and with a maximum of 300 bps was possible.
Switzerland Lugano 3 Communication link over 10 km medium voltage cable with 30 % of the whole distance under the lake of Lugarno. NMB, MVM, IIC This distance could only be bridged by usage of a robust type modem.
Switzerland Morges 1 Mixed cable over 4 km with IIC, MVM, NBM The system worked with appropriate reliability for meter reading with an intermediate repeater.
Switzerland Morges 2 Communication over partially earthed cables. The distance approx. 3 km and we tried IIC and mixed coupling. MVM, NBM Both possibilities worked, mixed coupling proved out better than pure inductive coupling. It was possible to set up an appropriate communication link to read meter data in a reliable way
