Compact Capacitive Coupler CMC 12 / 24
Capacitive coupling is used on overhead lines and cable networks. It offers best performance for narrow- as well as broadband signals and is widely independent of cable types, network configuration and grounding conditions.
The new compact capacitive coupler series is the cutting-edge development in signal coupling technology based on half a century experience. The perfect solution would be to use capacitive coupling in combination with modern integrated switchgear and substation technologies.
CMC Compact Couplers have been especially designed for:
- Installations within limited space
- All possible cable and switch gear types
- Overhead lines
- Low source impedance in order to feed low-impedance lines
- Perfect for indoor and outdoor installation
- Minimum signal attenuation

Principle of operation
The CMC Compact Coupler Series is intended for coupling narrow- and broadband signals directly to the conductor of a medium voltage line. The coupler is typically installed between one phase of a cable or overhead line and the common ground.
Safety elements
- 50/60 Hz impedance between low voltage terminal of coupling capacitor and of primary terminal < 2Ohm
- Drainage coil connected to low voltage terminal of coupling capacitor
- Main arrester connected to low-voltage
- Terminal of coupling capacitor
The CMC Compact Coupler is used for:
- Phase-to-common earth coupling
- Differential mode phase-to-phase coupling
- Common phase-to-phase coupling
- Parallel coupling for switch independent automation
- Coupling to more than one MV cable or line via common bus bar
via CMC Compact Coupler - Several CMC Compact Coupler can be connected to one power line
