Pipeline based Communication System (PipeCom)
PipeCom is a communication system working via insulated pipelines preferably with cathodic protection. The system uses the pipeline itself as communication media with a ground return.
The system is optimised for utility related demand site management applications.
There are two installations running since 2000 under the premises of Erdgas Ostschweiz. One installation works on the ring pipeline supplying the city of Zurich. The other one works over a 10 km segment between Niederuster and Wallisellen, also under premises of Erdgas Ostschweiz. The system is integrated in a SAT SCADA system and works together with fibre optic communication links and PSTN.
